The building is originally a traditional Japanese town house built in the Taisho Era(1912-1926),
and still retains the atmosphere of those time.

a roof-covered retro street.
Located in the old town of kyoto, you can easily stroll the willow-lined avenue in the Shirakawa area, visit Heian jingu Shrine, Gion District and Kiyomizu Temple.

Local Spots

Cycling to Kamogawa River
For sightseeing in Kyoto, bicycles are useful anyhow.
And if you ride a bicycle, Kamogawa river is definitely recommended!
Back to 20th century by public bath
There are a lot of old public baths in Kyoto.
Most public baths use well water, which is nice and smooth touch water.
Experience Kyoto's secret of public bath culture!
Lunch at an old Soba restaurant
We strongly recommend "Masutomi", an old soba restaurant nearby.
Besides their great Soba, their traditional and relaxing atmosphere are outstanding.
What will you find on Furukawa-cho Shopping Street?
Let us introduce you "Furukawa-cho Shopping Street" where we live.
Once it was called "East Nishiki Market",
at the end of the year, it was so crowded that people could not walk.
Passing the giant torii gate,
explore Heian Shrine!
In the northeast of our house, there is Heisn shrine, which is famous for the giant torii gate.
The beautiful vermillion shrine stands behind the large site covered in white sand.
Promenade of willows and
the simple stone bridges
Around "Shirakawa", a small river flowing east of the shopping street, is our oasis.
The water flowing under the willow trees is clear as fireflies dance in summer.
